Creative Couple Coaching – FAQ
How is Creative Couple Coaching different from traditional therapy?
Many of the clients we see, have at some point, attended counseling sessions. Many of them said it seemed to help at the time, but found themselves back in the same, or a very similar place within 3 – 12 months.
Psychotherapy attempts to cover deeper, more unconscious issues for couples, and is certainly a step in the right direction. However, even couples who chose a Relationship counsellor from very well respected institutes have reported a similar story. It would appear that very few approaches resulted in permanent change.
We believe that despite many different, powerful methods within varying therapies, none really have a ‘model’ of what a ‘healthy relationship’ looks like to work from. In addition to that couples are also left to deal with the individual therapist’s idea of what a healthy, fulfilling relationship should look like, with little, or no attention given to the therapists own experience of relationship(s).
Creative Couple Therapy was designed with the idea of working from the inside out. This meant to qualify, we both had to turn our attention inwards, on ourselves, rather than outward towards our partner. We were required to go through extensive self reflection, to understand the complexities of the individual, in terms of, who they are, who they bring to a relationship and how that affects the other partner.
What’s the process?
Once you contact us we will arrange your initial session. During this time we will get a clear picture of your individual needs and the needs of your relationship. It’s then up to you to decide how quickly you want things to progress and to book your sessions.
How long does it usually take for things to change in our relationship?
One, two, three, eight, twelve sessions…Who knows? Every couple is unique, which makes this an impossible question to answer.
What we do know is, no matter what issue or challenge you’re facing, you will notice a difference in your relationship very quickly, usually within just 6 sessions. The more committed and willing you are to participate in your own rescue the quicker you’ll see results. Once things start to improve we find couples become very motivated to keep the momentum going.
Ideally you would book your sessions weekly, but if your schedule doesn’t allow for this then we can be flexible. Please visit our fees page for details.
How do we know it will work for us?
You don’t! But, one thing we do know with absolute certainty is… If you both, genuinely, love each other, and are committed to giving this 100% Creative Coaching will work.
I’m not sure I want to be with my partner, should I still come?
Absolutely! Wouldn’t you rather know for sure whether you are actually incompatible or simply running away? Eighty percent of second relationships end up with the same issue(s) within 5 years.
This is such an important decision, particularly if you have children. Take the time and make the right decision.
